GOVERNOR SPRY AT THE RACES. V — Salt Lake City. Ttah. June 2. — Perfect racing conditions travailed today and a throng of 2 . r M t was attracted to Lagoon Park today. A well-balanced program was offered and a good days sport resulted. The success of two of the public choices and a well backed second choice gave the public about an even break. The feature event was a handicap at Ave eighths of a mile which drew a small but select held to the barrier. Terns Trick, holder of the American record for the distance, was the natural favorite and fully justified the confidence id his backers by winning in easy fashion after a spirited brush with Madman in the early running. The colors of II. J. Bed we!] were seen here for the first time in this race and as his horse passed the judges on the way to the [lost there was considerable applause. W. S. Spry. Governor of Utah, was an interested spectator id the racing and expressed hi III anil as highly pleased with the manner in which the sport was conducted. The success of Rather Royal in the fifth nee was locally popular, as he is owned by C. B. flow, a local tiirfmau and breeder.
