ARRANGEMENTS FOR LATONIA OPENING. Cincinnati. .. June 5. -There will be twenty live pari niiituel machines in operation al l.atonia on Derby Day. arrangements to thai effect having been completed yesterday by General Mnuager John Hach meister. who made a flying trip fioni Louisville. He also decided that it would be Impracticable to use the one maa machine as at Louisville, because it would require reconstruction of all of the booths in which they are placed, so there will be a seller and a cli.ker to each machine. It is expected that, except on Derby Day. the last race will be run not later than five oclock daily. The machines will be arranged as follows in the betting ring: Three 0; three each straight, place and show of the variety, ami three straight, two place and three show machines. There will be placed on the lawn in front of the ring three S2 machines, straight, place and show, and one foe the convenience of those ill the stand at the lop. As soon as it is reasonably certain that the horses carded will go in the Derby another machine will be placed in commission to accommodate those de-sirous of avoiding the rush while the race is on. A huge blackboard lias been placed in the grandstand, on which the results of each race, with the pari muluel pay oils will be displayed. This is fee the protection of those who never leave the stand and must depend on others for their knowledge of the value of winning tickets. Track sapeirintendent John Reegaa took quite ■ load from Mr. Hachmeisters mind when he informed the general manager that the races could begin tomorrow so far as the condition of the en closure is concerned. •Latonias coming meeting should be a banner one judging from the way things nn going at Louisville," said Mr. Hachtneisler. "The attendance and interest shown there in face of the hot spell that has just passed is remarkable. There is no good reason why the same should not hold good for Latonia. and I firmly betters that it will when tli» people come out and see what has been done here. for the comfort of patrons."
