ROSE F JEDDAH moved into the lead at once and, setting a fast pace, stood a hard drive well and held MERODE safe in the final strides. MERODE was always in closest pursuit and might have won but for losing ground by going wide. ALPINE ran forwardly throughout, but tired in the stretch. IRISHTOWN had a rough trip and was forced back sharply in the first quarter. BELLE HAMPTON showed a good flash ol speed. SAUCE tired in the last quarter. SYRINGA was In closest pursuit all the way and made a game finish. CAMELLIA showed speed, but tired in the stretch. COMMONERS TOUCH finished fast and would have been third but for interference in the stretch. JOHN GRIFFIN II. showed much speed and set a fast pace, but tired in the stretch. HAZEL BURKE, away in a tangle, closed a big gap resolutely and was going fast at the end. GROVER PUOHES showed sii| erior speed, but tired badly in the last furlong. RALEIGH P. D. had no mishaps. MESSENGER BOY is out f place in sprints. Scratched — M608*Veaeta Strome, 114. TOISON DOR set the early pace, but was forced back, which cost him much ground, then finished fast and gamely. TONY W.. from a slow beginning, moved up steadily and hnished with a rush.
