STAKES FOR MONTREAL MEETING. Montreal. Que.. July 14. — The management of the Montreal Jockey Club has decided on August 4 as the date for the losing of the eight fall stakes to be run at Blue Bonnets, Including six on the Hat and two over the steeplechase coarse. Five of the eight are op,n to all, while the remaining three are for proviiK e -breds and Canadian-owned horses. The stakes have all been increased in value. On the Opening day the Kings Plate will he run. This is for province-bred* and will be increased in value to ,200. The Hendrie Memorial is for steeplechasers over the three-mile course. The Btratbcoaa Steeplechase is over the two and a half miles course and will be worth 81,000. The Earl Grey stake.. ., one mile and an eighth will be worth SI. 200. There is no stake for less than .000 added to the entrance money. The overnight purses will range iu value from .*lo0 to 00. The opening handicap will have 00 added and there will be a handicap every afternoon. The work of remodeling the stables has been carried on with great rapidity and more than half of them are now completed. This is an Improvement that will be greatly appreciated by the horsemen who race here. Other Improvements are to be made between SOW and the opening on Saturday. September 10.
