, DUFFERIN PARK MEETING TO OPEN TODAY. Many Horses That Have Been Racing on the Big Tracks Will Bo Seen at Toronto Half -Mile Course. Toronto, Out., Augnst 1. The first of the 1911 meetings of the Metropolitan Racing Association will open todav at Dulferin Park. The prospects are good for a successful and Interesting session of sport at this half-mile course. Many horses that have been racing on the mile tracks in Canada this season will tie seen in action at Dufferin Park and the racing undoubtedly will be of better quality than any heretofore provided on a half-mile track in Canada. Recent arrivals include W. C. Westmoreland, with live head from Windsor, including Ben Double, Abrasion. Strike Out. Oakley and Agnes May: .1. W. Healev, with live Lady Hughes, Twenty-One. Clay. Charlie Brown and Brette; J. W. Cooper, with some of It. F. Carmans string: Charles Fair, from Montreal, yvith Miss Felix and Isabel Casse; J. Mackay. with Dorothy Webb, and Ed Folk, yvith Flamey and two good-looking two-year-olds in Ed Flamey and Judge Howell. B. Cole arrived from the west with Wonder Worker and Radation. Charles Pliair has his reeent purchase. Herpes, looking lit. Other well-known horses on the grounds include George McSweeneys Robert Cooper and Carrillon; F. Burrows Gold Fern and Bill Lamb; Miss Benton. Grenesque, Coal Shoot. Shot: F. Itsons Mapleton, Alarmed. Bronte; J. Phillins Mas-ana and Charley OBrien, botli two-year-olds, and a dozen bead belonging to William Walker. W. C. Capps came from Oklahoma City yvith Love Watches. Cesarion Lass is a good looker that arrived from Sheepshead Bay. Pat Civill arrived and engaged nine stalls for as manv horses belonging to Barney Schreiber. Among others to reserve stabling accommodation is M. C. Pilchard, who is expected yvith seven head, including Spellbound. Seymour Rentier and VrtUland. A number or improvements have been made to the plant since last falls racing. The stabling accommodation has been increased yvith sixty new stalls. The new paddock and jockeys room is an important addition to the plant. It is located on the north side of the track on the first turn. A gang or meir has been busv working on the track, getting it in first-class condition, and a new coat of paint on the entire plant gives it a finish and the appearance of a real race track. Everything is ready for the dropping of the Hag tomorrow. The officials will include Ed Cole, presiding judge: W. M. Murray, starter; W. Norval, racing secretary.
