SPALDING ran well, hut came very wide down the stretch, losing considerable ground. ANGELUS was always prominent and made a game effort. SIGURD ran fairly well. ALERTA was forced to swerve by DOS ESTRELLAS ever time the latters rider used his whip. DOS ESTRELLAS was speedy, but tired and bolted to the outside, causing ALERTA to swerve over against WIGGINS. HARRIGAN was in closest pursuit from the start anI when he drew along side of OAKLAND in the stretch was carried wide, but finished gamely and won drawing out. OAKLAND opened a big gap and set a fast pace, but began to tire when an eighth out and finished swerving. CHAPULTEPEC broke sideways and bumped into QUARTERMASTER, receiving the worst of it himself and losing many lengths, the effort to recover telling on him at the finish. The others were beaten off.
