MEXICAN COLT RUNS FAST MILE. Tecoac Reduces Condesa Course Record to 1:41 November 20 to Be Gala Day. Mexico City, Mex., November 11. A good crowd at the Condesa track today witnessed the victory of two thoroughbreds from former Governor Gull-lermo de Lauda y Eseandons stable, his chestnut horse Billy, brother to Force, winning easily from Marques de San Roman, which ran second in the Derby, and Made-lon, an other contender in the same event. This was the fourth race of the day. In the sixth Governor Landas good horse Tecoac easily defeated a speedy band and ran a mile in the track record time of 1:41 J. Tecoacs performance was the more remarkable, as it Was his first race of the season. Jockey George Mountain, who has been riding excellently here, guided both of these horses to victory. Ida Barbadoes was an easy winner in the opening race, while J. C. Fcrriss Forecaster finished first in the second. Both of these horses were ridden by jockey Dave Nlcol. The third purse fell to ! Augelus. which had not been showing good form here, but was easily best today, winning over Flying Feet, Kuropatkin and Freckle. W. G. Yankes Incision took the fifth race by a scant head. President Francisco Madero has accepted an Invitation to attend the races on Monday, November 20, extended to the chief executive of the republic by the management of the Mexican Jockey Club. President Madero will Ijo accompanied by his cabinet officers and the members of the diplomatic corps. The presence of these distinguished personages is wire to attract a great attendance, especially as the management of the association has decided to invite the poorer classes to attend, throwing open the field to them free of charge. Francisco Rincon Gallardo, owner of the good filly Shooting Star, has decided to retire her to the stud. The selection of her mate will be made shortly. Sbootlng Star is the winner of the recently run Mexican Derby, and is by Requital Star Lily. This tilly has started five times, with the remarkable record of four firsts and one second, and for this reason, in accordance with the custom of Mexicau owners of thoroughbreds, she will be retired from the track in the hope of establishing a line of speedy Moxlcan-bred horses. Shooting Star, in the brief number of times she has faced the barrier, has won 2,500 for her owner. Mexico City, Mex., November 12. The largest crowd seen at Condesa since Derby Day gathered today to witness the running of the eighth card of the season. The betting ring was crowded with enthusiasts between the races and the layers did a V-frisk business. The fifth race was the chief feature of the day. The entries and the order of their finish were Harrl-gan, Oakland. Chapultepec, Round the World and the winner of the first Mexican Derby, Star Eyes. The horses were off to an almost perfect start, Oakland making the running from the rise of the barrier until well into the long stretch, which is easily three-eighths of a mile in length. As the horses approached the finish, it was in the midst of the most animated scene that has ever ibeen witnessed on this course. A few strides from the wire, Harrigan, which had not succeeded in getting well into the running until well down the stretch, responded to the eall of Hoffman, and with a great hurst of speed flashed to the front, heating Oakland by a half length. Oakland was a scant head in advance of Chapultopec, which out-gamed W. G. Yankes fast filly by a half length. Star Eyes, which had not previously faced the harrier this season, acted contrarily and was difficult to handle from the moment of leaving the paddock. He finished far behind and was completely out of it from the start. The handicapping by Presiding Judge W. H. Shelley in this race was good, as was shown by the horses coming to the finish with but a length separating the four leaders. The most valuable race decided was the fourth, the Grand Criterion Stakes, for two-year-old Mexican-foaled colts and fillies. Amor Brothers ,Ma-ohintla, winner of the Criterion Stakes last Sunday, was again a victor, scoring by a length over La Luz, .with Madrcperla, a stable mate of the winner, third. The Henderson and Hogan stable took two purses, the first aud the third, with Henry Walbank and Tim Judge. J. C. Ferriss won the second and the closing races with Traymorc and Galliota. The saddle honors were taken by two jockeys today. J. Howard winning the stake race on Jla-cliintlu and also being successful with Traymorc and Galliota. It. Hoffman piloted Harrigan to victory in the handicap and also had winning mounts oil Henry Walbank and Tim Judge. Hal Stevens and V. J. Dclaney arrived today and will remain to the end of the meeting, when they will proceed to Juarez for the winter racing season in that border city.
