The horse has just been shipped from Harry Payne Whitneys establishment, Drookdalo, In New Jersey, to the squadrons stud at Huntington, Long Island. Squadron C. is indeed fortunate in securing Prince Hamburg, for it is safe to reckon that his get will be of a type essential for military service. With regard to blood lines he has no superior in America. Ills dam, Maori, was a French mare by Poulet, out of Queen of Cyprus. In addition to foaling Prince Hamburg. Maori is the dam of that distinguished race horse and sire, Ethelbert, whose son, Fits Herbert, is one of the fastest and gamest horses that ever took a stride in this country. Hamburg, sire of Prince Hamburg, ranks with the brilliant winners that have made turf history, besides tracing to a remarkable producing and racing family. Stoutness predominates throughout the pedigree, sons and daughters being notable weight carriers and particularly good travelers over considerable distances of ground. Prince Hamburg was trained for handicap events at six and seven furlongs by the late John W. Rogers. He won his maiden race at Delmont Park in his three-year-old form in 1905. After several other victories he met and defeated Roscben, Lady Amelia and other racers of note In the Fall Handicap at Shecpshead Day. He was a good winner in the following season and in 1907 again defeated Roseben. Maj. Charles I. De Devoise, presiding officer over Squadron C.s breeding establishment, is a horseman in all that the word implies. A collection of forty mares are now domiciled at Huntington, and the produce of the mares selected for mating with Prince Hamburg will be awaited with unusual interest,
