NOTES OF THE TURF. Winter speculation on next years Derby commenced with the acceptance of 700 to 200 about Lomond, which closed a slightly better favorite than White Star, against which 400 to 100 was twice booked. In each case the rate was again tendered, and "bar two" odds of GOO to 100 were offered. The stewards of the English Jockey Club have given notice that the Committee of Haudicappers Messrs. Dawkins, Keyser and Lee will not work as a committee after May IS of next season, and for the remainder of the season Mr. Dawkins lias undertaken to make the handicaps for Newmarket, Ascot, Epsom and Goodwood, but will not accept handicapping work for any other meeting.
