i i RACING CONDITIONS IN THE ANTIPODES. A New Zealand trainer, just returned from Australia, reported that raring in the commonwealth was booming. As regards the horses, where there was one goad om- a few years ago. there wen- now titt. and races were much harder to win than thev Bjsed to be. He expressed the opinion that thu general standard among the race horses in Australia was higher than in New Zealand, because for one good horse that could be taken over there from the Dominion, there arete scores to be touud iu Australia.
