LEGISLATION IN CANADA GOVERNMENT TO PASS ACT REGULATING INCORPORATION OF RACING ORGANIZATIONS. Sanction of Legislature or Federal Parliament to Be Necessary Hereafter Instead of Simple Procedure of Securing Letters Patent. Ottawa. Out., January 10. — An important amendment to the Criminal Code, in which racing men will be interested, will be introduced by the Hon. C. J. Doherty. The amendment will do away with the custom of Incorporating racing associations by the simple process of securing letters patent from the State Department. Hereafter those must lie secured, if the amendment prevails, by incorporation through the Act of Legislature or of the Federal Parliament. The bill has caused a run on the State Department for charters, the object of the applicants being to get in ahead of the prospective legislation. It is understood that these efforts will be without avail, as the bill to be brought in by the government will, when passed, take effect from" January 1. 1012. The measure is designed to prevent the promlscn-ous establishment of race tracks in Canada.
