LOUISVILLE AND LATONIA STAKES TO CLandSE. Under present conditions the most important rac [ng ot the United States is that carried on over tie Kentucky tracks and protected by wisely enacted law. Last year tbe racing at Lexington. Louisville and I.atonia was up to the highest standard of tbe sport and results all around were of the most satis factory kind. The liberal stake races now on offi r for entries by the New Louisville Jockey Club am] the Lalonia Jockey Club present cbcerful assurance of a continuance of the policies that worked out so well in 1011. In fact, some progress is to be not d in the way of a sain In stake values through be doing away of guaranteed stakes in favor of added money stakes uniformly. This does not apply tj tbe al ready closed Kentucky Derby and Oaks of this year, but in 1913 these Important events will al*o become added money races, in the meantime, t" close for entries at midnight of next Saturday. March 2. the New Ixuisville Jockey Club offers eight Make races and the I.atonia Jockey Club tenders six. The Louisville list is: For Three-year-olds and Over. lark Handicap. ,000 added: 1 1-16 miles. Louisville Handicap. ,000 added: 3-4 milo. Churchill Downs Handicap, .UO0 added; 1 1-8 mOea. Frank Fehr Stakes. Selling. ,000 added. 1 mile. Tobacco Stakes. Selling. ,000 added: o 4 mile. F»r Two-year-olds. Tin I.atonia Derby is included in the list of events Offered bv tbe I.atonia Jockey Club. Last year it was a ,000 guaranteed race. This year it lias si.5»o added and i;s value to the future wlnn r dip, nds on tbe number of nominations to be made t" it next Saturday. The six Latonla stakes i" close ate: For Three-year-olds and Over. Memorial Handicap. . 1 .500 added: 1 1 10 miles. Merchants Stakes. Selling. ,000 added: 1 mile. For Three-year-olds. The Luteals Derby. ,500 added: 1 1-2 milts. For Two-year-olds. Cincinnati TlQOhy. £1,500 added: 5 1-2 fmlOOgS. Harold Stakes, colts and geldings, ,000 added: 5-8 mil. . Clipsetta Stakes, fillies. ,000 added: 5-S mile. So far as western owners are concerned, it is plain that to a man they should nominate all of their horses of demonstrated, or prospective, stake lass pretensions to these events. Outside of tbe Canadian offerings to come nothing else of Importance is in prospect assuredly, and it is the powei ful incentive ol self interest that calls for limit patronage of these Louisville and I.atonia proffers. There is but little time left in which to make entries. Those for the Ixniisville stakes should 1 ■ addressed to Lyman H. Davis. Secretary, Louisville. Ky., and the I.atonia entries are to In- addressed to the Baring Secretary/, i.atonia Jockey club, Covington, Ky.
