TRAINERS ACTIVE AT LOUISVILLE. Training Goes Forward in Spite of Heavy Track Conditions at Churchill Downs. Louisville. Ky.. March 30. — While the going was heavy today at Churchill Downs, the adverse conditions did Dot prevent the training of a large uumiicr of horses. In the early hours the course was alive with racers. Although the cracks were not speeded, all were subjected to vigorous exercise. Bourbon L. an cantered a mile and a half. This good four-year oh I i a picture and is in perfect condition. The Derby candidates on the coarse at the Downs tMhiy included chief Ltndsey, Nicias and Free Lance. At Douglas lark The Manager was given a long gallop. The anbsatea two year old Hawthorn was trotted around the shed of his stable for half an hour. His trainer will work him on the big track tomorrow. Hawthorn could not look belter. The same may be said of George M. Odoius sensational Inqoieta. P. M. West has taken up Danger Mark, owned by L. I*. Doerhoefer. and this four year-old looks good. Mr. West has a promising two-year-old colt in Ray R.. a brother to Spalding. He also has taken up Indiana, a sister to Miss Coyne, also a eoople of two-year-obi fillies by The Elector, one of which is out of Ell.sl.urg. and the other out of Meddle. Mr. Wist will ship Melisande to Ixxington to be mated with one of the great sires. If Mr. Doerhoefer consents, Melisande will go to the court of importe i Malta Santa, the sire of George C. Bennetts good colt MoUer. Jack Adkins has taken up 11. J. Mackenzies racers Veaeta Strome, Melton Street and fountain Square. The trio are quartered at the Downs. All wintered here and are looking well. Trainer Adkins thinks Fountain Squares lameaess has beea cared. It.. Farley, in the stable of J. H. Mead, was lame apoa bis arrival from Juarez, but Mr. Mead believe« the four year old will round to soon. Bob baiky. in his opinion, stunk his leg while en route from Mexico. Mr. Meads other horses. Charm 1 tepee and John Louis, wore given light exercise today. Salali was allowed to rest. He appears to U in good condition. Dan l.ehaii and A. P. Humphrey, Jr.. have at present the largest stable they have owned. Their Derby candidate, chief Liadaey. is a good looker ami i a - •!! of Wootstborpe, out of a mare by Hanover. Kitty R., in their string, is a Kentucky oaks eligible. Their other horses are Explicit, Sir Cites by. Pen K. SI. it. Shapdale. Casey J. .lies and a two year-old brown colt by ArresceC The older horses bare been resting sine" last fall. Louis Tanner thl iks well of his three-year-old. Sheriff Nolle, a BOB of Sain and a brother of Lacy Crawford. Trainer Tanner also has Golden Spindle ai..l Helen Scott. None of these horses raced duriug the winter and all look good. T.
