RACING LEGISLATION IN INDIA. / The Bombay racing bill has been introduced labs the Legislative CoanciL This says the Bombay correspondent of The London Times is a short rambling bill, empowering the government to license race courses on whatsoever conditions it deems expedient. While the necessity of control was recognized in the debate, there was some criticism of the unfettered powers which the bill confers on the executive. The government intimated its readiness to license Bombay and Ioone race courses for fifteen meetings each annually, prohibiting bookmakers and permitting totalizators.
