PROVISIONS OF BALTIMORE BILL Baltimore Md April 1 The Baltimore County Racing Commission Bill just approved by Governor Goldsborough provides for the holding of trotting and running races in Baltimore County under the control of a commission made up of Redmond C Stewart Frederick Van Kopp and Spalding L Jen ¬ kins who will serve four years when their succes ¬ sors will be appointed by the Governor The bill also provides that licenses may be issued for race meetings of not more than twentysix days to auy mcorpprated racing or horse breeding club fair as ¬ sociation or similar body that has been conducting race meetings for two or more years previous to the passage of this act A fee of 10 a day for the first five days and 200 a day thereafter must lie paid by the running meetings while the fee for trots is 10 each day with no increase Applica ¬ tions for licenses must be filed by April 1 and the commission must announce dates fifteen days later No racing is permitted in December January Febru ary and March The commission is empowered to regulate bookmaking or mutuel betting and may re ¬ voke any license for cause causeWord Word conies from Annapolis that both houses of the Maryland legislature passed the bill giving Amw Arundel county in which the Laurel track is located u racing commission similar to the commission re ¬ cently created for Baltimore county Heretofore racing has been permitted in Laurel onlv in the month of October If Governor Goldsborough signs the bill and there seems no reason to doubt that be will meetings will be possible iu spring fall or sum ¬ mer H D Brown manager of the Laurel track says that as a result of the passage of the bill there will be a spring meeting at Laurel immediately after the close of the Pimlico meeting The plan is to work in harmony with the Baltimore track and not in opposition as was done last year
