LATONIA PROSPECTS CONSIDERED BRIGHT The Cincinnati Enquirer comments on the coming meeting at Latonia in the following terms termsThe The spring meeting of the Latonia Jockey Club promises to be the greatest session of racing ever held iu this vicinity For two reasons chielly one might say First the dates are all that could b desired beginning May 30 and closing July 4 As a rule this period of the year is the most delight ¬ ful of the entire year Secondly owing to the re ¬ stricted field for turf operations practically every big stable in the country will be represented at La ¬ tonia This was shown by the list of nominations to the six stakes that will be nin in the twenty four days allotted to the Latonia race course by the Kentucky State Racing Commission CommissionThen Then as a reminder of the glories of Latonia in the past the meeting will begin on Memorial Day which for years was always the biggest day of the spring meeting It has been some years since Latouia has opened that early and no doubt a large crowd will see the opening of the racing season iu this section sectionThe The Derby will most likely be run on June 8 and this will give the horses that contest the Derby at Louisville a months time to get rested and fitted for the longer journey at Latonia which is at a mile and a half while the Kentucky event at Churchill Downs calls for a quarter mile less lessThe The pick of the threeyearolds that will be raced in the United States this year are entered In this event among the number being Worth Sprite Presumption The Manager Sonada and so on down the list The entries to the stakes were highly sat ¬ isfactory both as to quantity and quality and La ¬ tonia has a better showing in this than Louisville LouisvilleThe The racegoers will all be pleased to see the old and timetried officials back again as the threat ¬ ened upheaval failed to materialize It would be hard to get better men than Judge Chas F Price aud Starter Mars Cassldy John Hachracister will continue as general manager of the plant and be certainly has accomplished a great deal since he took charge The sport that has been furnished since that time has been right to the notch and he is always thingsLatouia planning for greater things Latouia has won its way back and the public confidence iu the sport has been reestablished and there is every reason to believe that the best racin in years will be on tap daily
