notification today from J I Johnston secretary of the Kentucky State Racing Commission that all applications for trainers or jockeys licenses must be made to him at the office of the commission in Lexington and the fees for same remitted by check or postoffice order This is because Col Milton Young who acts as license committee for the commission passes on the appli ¬ cations before they are issued by the secretary Mr Johnston Impressed upon Mr Davis the necessity for the trainers and jockeys sending in their appli ¬ cations for licenses as early as possible possibleSecretary Secretary Davis also received a letter from thy Ixmisvillc passenger committee giving him Derby ilay rates from all points in Kentucky The rates will not only cover Derby Day but all other racing days1 of the meeting They are as foltows May 10 and 11 limit May 20 one and onethird fare plus twentyfive cents May 11 Derby day one fare plus twentyfive cents all other days from the 13th to the 18th inclusive one and onethird fare plus twentyfive cents the limit of all these tickets being two days after sale saleA A special train of five carloads of horses from Charleston is due to arrive in Louisville tonight Secretary Davis received a wire today that among tlic stables on board arc those of R F Carman Frank Gering Sr William Gerst and twentythree horses In J S Evermans charge In this latter stable arc the horses owned by F J Pons PonsA A veterinarian made a careful examination of Bourbon JJeaus injury this morning and found that tlie sesanioid bone in the horses left leg was out of the socket which caused the Impression that the noted fouryearold had broken his leg The veter ¬ inarian said that this and the rupture of a terdon precluded any chance that he would race again but he thinks that the horse will unquestionably be saved for Ilie stud Blood poisoning is the only thing to be feared Trainer Carroll stated this morning that the horse would remain in his present quarters until
