MORE OF WHEATCEOFT SALE Further particulars of the sale of the I H Wheat croft shipment of racers to Australia are contained in the Sydney Referee from whose report of the sale these extracts are made madeThe byI The horses brought from America to Sydney by I 11 Wheatcroft were sold at auction by Messrs MessrsII II Chlsholm Co last week and It is not too ninch to say that results exceeded expectations I know of several small breeders who put In an ap ¬ pearance with the idea of picking up something cheap but all the choicer lots realized fair value and the prices made by many of the older mares wore astonishing We would have no chance of dis ¬ posing of our old mares to such advantage re ¬ marked a wellknown breeder and even admitting they were of good type and some Iiad foals at foot tho Americans certainly did sell well wellSt St Savin a beautiful bay stallion by St Simon from Aboyne topped the sale at 15120 at which figure he fell to the bid of Mr E J Craven Ce sarlou another fine stallion by Faustus from Cleo ¬ patra was passed in when bidding ceased at 1000 guineas and Mr Wheatcroft expressed his intention f taking him back to America where he could earn more than that in one season though Cesarion is now twenty years old oldThe The 135 head disposed of brought S9000 thirty one of the broodmares reaching the threefigure mark Other sales of horses well known were Don Royal 1300 Mexican 3875 Kismet 450 Green Seal 2900 Alma Dufour 1375 Eliza Belle 400 Ora Bailey 2550 and Penury 800
