NEW MARYLAND TRACK GETS LICENSE Racing Commission of Harford County Allots Desired Dates to Havre de Grace Race Course Baltimore Md July 29 The Racing Commission of Harford County has granted a license for thirty days of racing to the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association commencing August 20 and ending September 28 It has also granted a license to the Harford County Farmers Association for eleven days of racing two of which will occur In August two In September and seven in November NovemberThe The Harford Agricultural and Breeders Associa ¬ tion is a new corporation originally Incorporated for 1000 but recently Increased in capitalization to P00000 of which 100000 is preferred stock and 00000 is common stock stockTho Tho directors of this association ure John M Michael president R Harry Webster vicepresi ¬ dent M II Fahey secretary and treasurer and Joseph Evans Roberts Clarence C Pusey J Doesch and Robert M Vandiver All of these men except Mr Rolxnrts are residents of Harford County and have been for many years Mr Doesch is president of tho Consolidated Beef Company and vicepresi ¬ dent of tbe Lincoln Mutual Life Insurance Com ¬ pany of Philadelphia The board Is not yet com plete and several prominent horse lovers may be added In the near future futureThe The Harford County Farmers Association which has l een granted eleven days Is a corporation which has been in existence for a number of years and has from time to time held fairs and exhibitions at its fair grounds near Bchiir 1 Alexis Shriver is presi ¬ dent of this association and its stock is widelv dis ¬ tributed tributedThese These are the only two bodies corporate which have requested licenses from the commission and have complied with the requirements of the law governing the issuing of licenses Up to the present time deniedTho no applicant for a license has been denied Tho Ilarford Agricultural and Breeders Associa ¬ tion will conduct its meetings under the auspices and direction of the New York Jockey Club which con ¬ trols all tho reputable racing In the east The asso ¬ ciation has purchased the Old Bay Farm near the city of Havre do Grace and is rapidly transforming it plantThis into a modern race plant This properly is located directly along the tracks of the Pennsylvania railroad and close to the Balti ¬ more and Ohio and is about forty minuses ride from Baltimore and sixty minutes from Philadelphia The grounds are lieautifully situated and are adapted for the purpose The purposeThe improvements now being made are substantial In character The buildings have been planned by Dodge Morrison of New York City and the con tract for their erection was awarded to Ilufiis II Brown The track is lieing constructed by Frank Spinner It will be a mile in circumfcrence and will soon be ready for racing
