IMPORTANT SALE OF YEARLINGS NEAR The Kentucky Sales Companys announcement oC its annual sale of thoroughbred yearlings to tak place at Lexington September 4 and 5 conveys tlu disagreeable information that the total offering will probably not exceed 200 yearlings a falling off oC over 150 from last year Of course those concerned are very well aware of the fact that American breeding operations have been greatly curtailed in recent years but it really seems that more young ¬ sters should lie available for public sale One ele ¬ ment affecting the situation Is that there has benn considerable buying of yearlings privately this ycir absorbing stock that otherwise might have been dis ¬ posed of at auction As the case now stands there should be an active demand for the young horses to be sold at Lexington and It will not be at all sir prlsing if eager competition and good prices mark the disposal of the choicer specimens Attention Is called to the advertisement elsewhere in this issue
