INDIANA OPENING TO BE DEFERRED Construction Work Will Require More Time Than Expected and Meeting May Begin in October The management of the Mineral Springs Jockey Club have come to the conclusion that they will be unable to complete their new track at Mineral Springs near Porter Ind in time for the proposed opening of tho inaugural meeting on September 14 the announced date Progress in track building has been slower than anticipated and it is probable that it will be necessary to defer the opening until Octo ¬ ber shortlyThe The exact date will IH determined shortly The postponement precludes the possibility of more than one fifteendays meeting for this fall The Seller law under which racing in Indiana can be conducted provides that a lapse of thirty days must ensue before another meeting of fifteen days can be held at any one track trackThere There is much activity at the site of the new track The 120acre plat has been plowed and os Monday next a full force of workmen will begin tha grading and leveling of the track proper Little grading will be necessary and the mile circle for the horses should be finished within the next ten days The construction of the grandstand and paddocks will also be started next week weekThe The cement blocks for tho stable foundations have all been laid and some of the kitchens have been erected Kight stables of tifty stalls each will be finished during the coming week and some of the stalls according to the builders will bo ready for occupancy bv Tuesday next It is intended to erect 800 stalls Pending the completion of the track itself a training course will be provided for horsemen who may ship to the new course by the construction of a sixfurlongs straightaway in close proximity to the stables stablesMany Many inquiries are being received from horsemen in various parts of the country asking for detailed information regarding tho proposed racing The pro ¬ moters announce positively that they will race over the course this fall and that the minimum purse offering will be 400
