Douglas Park autumn meeting beginning September Iti and continuing for eighteen days shows the liberality of the policy of John Hachmeister manager of the club and indicates by the entries for the stakes the high class of tho horses that will engage in the racing Tnrfmen are praising not alone the conditions of the feature events and the overnight races but they are commending the management in general for its progressivenoss Assuredly racing is going to open at Douglas Park one week from today under un ¬ usually favorable circumstances and the outlook at Churchill Downs where the meeting of nine days will begin on October 7 the date of the 15000 Kentucky Endurance Stakes is equally good Pa ¬ trons of the turf IiereaUmts have reason to con ¬ gratulate themselves this fall for the reason that they arc destined to witness sport right up to the metropolitan standard at two of tho most beautiful and modern plants in America Secretary Maginns daily program provides for the first race on the opening day a live and a half fur ¬ longs dash for twoyearolds purse 500 The sec ¬ ond race is for twoyearolds at five and a half furlongs purse GOO The third race is for three yearolds and upward at six furlongs purse COO The fourth event is the Douglas Park Inaugural Handicap possessing a value of 4000 distance ono mile and a sixteenth with the best horses in America carded to go The lifth nice will be at one mile and a sixteenth and the sixtii will bo at one mile and an eighth both purses being 500 each Throughout tho meeting there will be no purse of loss value than 500 and this rule
