OTTAWA TRACK IDEALLY LOCATED Something of the New Course of the Connaught Park Jockey Club Now Nearing Completion Ottawa Out September 1C Connaught Park the new course over which racing will commence here next spring is located on the Aylmer boulevard about three miles from the city It is situated on a plateau about 100 feet above the river and an excellent view of the surrounding country may be had from the grandstand The facilities for reach ing the track are excellent A trolley road passes the enclosure and a railroad spur lands racegoers directly at the rear of the grandstand The Aylmer boulevard which passes the main gate Is a macad amizcd road roadAdjoining Adjoining Connaught Park is the Ottawa Hunt Club and also the beautiful links of the Ottawa Golf Club The location is ideal for a race course and when completed the plant will bo one of the finest in Canada The grandstand clubhouse pad ¬ dock secretarys building and jockeys quarters have all IXHJII completed Some 30 box stalls are also finished and 100 more will be built along the backstretch fence next month The stalls are 10iixl2V feet and are the finest of their kind in Cadana They cost the club G7 each to build buildThe The grandstand which is a modern structure is 22X feel long and has a seating capacity of 2200 but can accommodate 1000 more The betting ring measures 71xlrC feet and is located at the upper end of the grandstand Then are twelve stalls in the paddock and adjoining it is a large leading ring built after the style of those at Woodbine and Blue Bonnets BonnetsThere There is a 100foot lawn iu front of the grand ¬ stand with i grade of seven feet toward the track It is so constructed as to insure a good view of every part of a race raceAll All but 200 feet of the grading of the track proper lias been completed There is a fill of twelve feet on the backstretch and around the first turn The soil is a sandy loam and horsemen who have in ¬ spected the course express the opinion that the track will be a fast one oneThe The stables have been laid out similar to those at Mouereif Park Jacksonville witli an avenue about 130 feet in widtli between each structure They are located along the backstretch The ground1 comprise about ninety acres
