CHARLES KOHLERS PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR Mr Charles Kohler the wellknown American owner who has recently left London on his way to New York intends to race a large number of Amer ¬ ican twoyearolds in England next season Butters of Newmarket already bus a couple of Mr Holders youngsters in training only one of which Beethoven 11 hss made his debut on an English race track but before the end of the year this number will bo augmented bv at least another dozen Mr Kohler has a large breeding establishment at Sufferu near New York and it is from there that Ids second batch of thoroughbreds for England will be sent In all Mr Kohler has over forty yearlings at Sufferu and twelve of the most promising are to be shippe1 to England EnglandIt It will be remembered that Mr Kohler came to England last year in the hope of establishing a purely American stable here American horses American trainer ami American jockey At that lime he had provisionally engaged the noted Amor ican trainer Sam Hildreth and the crack American jockey Carroll Shilling and had also purchased Ilildreths full stable of thirteen horses including Fitz Herbert the best racer of his generation in the United States Certain alterations iu his plans were made however and the whole of the thirteen horses with Hildreth in full charge were shipped to Franc1 where Mr Kohler established a stud farm at Oise about thirty miles from Paris There he is breed ing on an extensive scale with Fitz Herlxrr now a sixyearold and another famous American sire Uncle as his leading stallions The remainder of Ilildreths original American horses are being trained in Fratice as jumpers jumpersAt At the Olse stud farm Mr Kohler already lias six promising foals by Uncle and these will be raced in France but Mr Kohler is hopeful of sending from Sitffbiin i batch of youngsters that will disport themselves with distinction iu England next season London Sporting Life
