INDIANAS NEW TRACK NEAR COMPLETION The new race truck of the JIineril Springs Jockey Club near Porter Indian was a place of active endeavors yesterday with rapid progress visible in all details essential to the making and proper equipment of a modern race course The most striking feature of the plant is its really remarkable natural adaptability to the purposes for which it irf being shaped It is a practically level tract of land requiring the minimum of labor to prepare it for racing The soil is an clastic clay so free from gravel that there is a standing reward for the dis ¬ covery of a single pebble or bit of rock of any de ¬ scription One experienced in such matters is bound to conclude that the new track is to he a marvel ¬ lously fast one as soon as it becomes settled into good racing condition The track proper will bu completed inside of ten days daysThe The grandstand is rapidly taking shape A big garage for the accommodation of visiting auto ¬ mobiles is practically completed as are also the saddling paddocks Stables with stalls for 250 horses are completed and the lumber is on tin ground for the rapid construction of others The stables are covered with asbestos rooting and are to be painted inside with fireproof asbestos paint Generally speaking the stables are of eight bs stalls and appear to be models of convenience i Those in charge of the new plant assert in the most positive way tlmt racing will begin over tlw new course Saturday October 12 and that the place will then l e ready for the reception and entertain ¬ ment of its patrons of the future Of course there will be some details of iiicompletiou but only of a minor character It is not pretended that the plant will be at its best until next spring 1m t it will serve very well for the fifteen days meeting sot for next month In the long run it will be a beautiful and picturesque track A big grove of trees outside of the lirst turn is a feature pleasing to the ero and in its midst a big clubhouse is to l c erected next spring On the whole it is a place that will delight owners especially since it has a lavish pro ¬ vision of the purest water imaginable
