OPPOSITION TO PITTSBUEGH MEETING Pittsburgh Pa October 1 Local opposition hag developed to the tendays race meeting which it was proposed to hold at Brunotfs Island under the aus ¬ pices of the recently organized Pittsburgh Fair and Racing Association District Attorney Blakeley on being Interviewed as to his attitude towards betting in connection with the proposed meeting Is quoted as saying that he will do his duty William Porter who is one of those Interested in the meeting de ¬ clares that it Is not the intention of the association to permit public betting Furthermore difficulty is being encountered in gettinghorses to ship here from the halfmile tracks of Canada on which the pro ¬ moters were counting to furnish the material for the racing because of Jack Sheehans connection with the venture W B Norvell to whom the position of presiding judge was tendered lias declined to ac ¬ cept the appointment
