THE TWOYEAROLD EACING QUESTION On the subject of twoyearold racing the late Harry Cnstanco delivered liimself as follows I am not an advocate for going back to yearling or early twoyearold racing but only Wish to show that the early running of twoyearolds unless they are big overgrown horses does not interfere with their stamina to any great extent Take for in ¬ stance The Bard He ran sixteen times as a two yearold and a little horse named Folkestone ran fourteen times while Thormanby also started in the same numlicr of races as a twoTyearold Of course 1 should not make it a rule to run all young ani ¬ mals so early or so often and 1 only quote these instances to show that no benefit accrues by bottling up young horses unless they are overgrown or suf ¬ fering from lameness or from some other 111 to which animals are subject We have more instances of good horses running as twoyearolds than we have of those that have been kept until they arc three before asking them tub question Of course there are exceptions to every rule and the case of Blair Athol Doncaster Bendigo Merry Hamp ¬ ton and Common can be cited Exchange
