Colonel Winn said: "The New Louisville Jockey cluh ha- invariably pursued a progressive ami Inderal policy. The club ha- always increased purse- without being requested to do so. Last season we gave f:t,!S! l a day for fifteen days, which was an increase of ,000 a day over the preceding year. Now we shall give on an average of ,000 each of the thirteen dav of the meeting which begum on May 10. The New Louisville Jockey Club is not only perpetuating the Kentucky Derby and Oaks, but is retaining the Clark stakes as a tribute lo Col. M. Lewis Clark, who did more for racing in Kentucky and the United States than any other American livin* or dead."
