MARLBORO MANAGEMENT MEETS CONDITIONS New York April 5 All is serene now between the powers that be and the Southern Maryland Fair and Racing Association at present conducting a race meeting at the Marlltoro halfmile course For a time it was threatened that the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association would withold its sanction for the last six days of the ten days of racing advertised for Marllioro Tlie reason for this threat was that the atsociation had only an ¬ nounced premiums for the first four days of its meeting meetingSince Since that time a full program for the ten days has been made public and the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association bavins no further cause for complaint has now granted its sanction for the sport sportThe The following letter has been addressed to Dr Richard S Hill president of the Southern Maryland Fair and Racing Association by Henry J Morris honorary secretary of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association AssociationDear Dear Sir At a meeting of tlie board of stew ¬ ards held at this olliee today I read your letter of March 31 and presented the original and corrected catalogue for your proposed agricultural fair the corrected catalogue changing the proposed dates of the said fair and adding six days making a total of ten days April 2 to 12 inclusive inclusiveThe The action of our Imard in the light of what you published was quite iiroperly taken and within our rules of racing in giving you due notice that the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association intended to enforce their rules which govern all race meet ¬ ings ingsAs As you have met this notice presumably by ex ¬ tending your proposed fair and grlcultural exhibition over the entire period of time of your proposed meet Ing I am Instructed by our l oard to inform you that tlie exemption provided for fair associations In Rule 2 Section 3 N B quoted to you in my last letter appears to be regularly availed of by your association
