PLANS OF THE PIMLICO MANAGEMENT Capt W F Presgjave who is in charge of the parimutuels at Pimlico Is quoted as follows followsIt It is our intention to be aboveboard with every ¬ thing in connection with the sport Not only will the receipts of the mutuel department be published but it is the intention of the association to issue a statement of its business for the edification of the State Racing Commission and the public This statement will show the actual receipts and dis ¬ bursements from every source The Stockholders will receive only C per cent on the actual valuation of the stock a small reserve fund will be held in hand for repairs and upkeep of the track and the remainder of the profits will IK donated to charities country improvements or agricultural enterprises iu Hie countyAs county As the profits accrue so will the purses be in ¬ creased as it will be the first thought of the asso ¬ ciation to enhance the value of the thoroughbred Encouragement will be given to breed horses in Maryland as it Is the intention to give races for Marylandbred horses as soon as there are enough raised to permit contests contestsI I feel certain that the salvation of the American turf depends upon the success or failure of the mu ¬ tuel system of speculation There must be specula ¬ tion and public patronage at race courses to gather monetary returns to encourage the breeding of thor ¬ oughbreds which is an industry of gigantic propor ¬ tions in almost every country iu the world and should be encouraged If only Iu the line of progres ¬ sion and for economic purposes I purposesI know that there is opposition to the mutuel system hut I believe there are sufficient fair minded persons interested in the horse to insure the success of our entertirise and willingness to sustain the American thoroughbred with but a business margin of profit to the stockholders Our first balance sheet has proved that a foundation lias been laid for the perpetuation of the sport at Pimlico and I hope iu every other state in the Union
