WOODBINE MEETING CLOSES TREMENDOUS CROWD SEES AMOS TURNEYB HORRON WIN THE RICH TORONTO CUP Hearts of Oak Continues His Winning Career by byTaking Taking William Hcndric Memorial Handicap Bello Wins Stake Race Through the Field Toronto Out May SI The opening meeting of the Canadian circuit for the season of 1913 camo to a close with the running of todays program at Woodbine A tremendous gathering turned out the attendance equaling in point of numbers that of Saturday last when a recordbreaking crowd was present A splendid program was provided by the Ontario Jockey Club for the occasion There were seven races with the Toronto Cup 5000 added a handicap at a mile and an eighth the Street Uail wiy Steeplechase 1500 added over the two and i half mile course and tho William Hendric Memorial Handicap 1500 added for Canadianbreds at oue mile as the features featuresInterest Interest centered iii the running of tho Toronto Cup and it furnished a stirring contest the linish finding the threeyearolds llorron and Buskin light ¬ ing it out with the former lirst home by a scant length llorron showed a splendid performance Hu conceded weight to the aged horses of good class made all of his own pace and after standing off a challenge from Plate Ulass had enough left to withstand Buskins bid in the final sixteenth Bns kln was closing fast and gradually wearing the win ¬ ner down and had the distance been a furlong farther he probably would have beaten him Ilormu has won his last six races and Is undoubtedly JIK of the best of his age in training CHIT Kdge and John Furlong were the disappointments of the race Both were crowded back at the start and while at the barrier John Furlong was kicked in Ilia hind leg by Cliff Edge which did not help his chances any anyThe The was a visitor at the track this afternoon He received word from Kentucky that John W Schorr would ship eighteen horses to Ham ilton also that J W May and W U Yanke would send on their strings at the conclusion of the Doug las 1ark meeting meetingI A great many racegoers were not aware that tho Montreal Jockey Club hail moved up the opening of the Blue Bonnets meeting one day This means that the
