WYSONG INVITES GOVERNORS ASSISTANCE New York July S District Attorney Charles N Wysong has made public M letter he has sent to Governor Sulzer in which he states that he has veart and dlgestod and analyzed the evidence laid before him by the Ilev Canon Chase of the diocese jf Long Island and the Society for the Prevention of Crime and is now ready to take up the matter complained of betting at Bclmont Park during the racing there thereIn In the letter Mr Wysong calls the attention of the governor to the fact that his staff consists of one assistant district attorney and a county detec ¬ tive He then reviews the work that has been done in his office regarding the betting matter and goes on to say sayI I am desirous of doing my whole duty in the premises and have in the past gone beyond the lines of my duty as prescribed by the statutes in order that the race tracks located in inv county might be free from gambling gamblingI I am now informed that racing will continue in this county during the month of July The power is with you to supply proper machinery with which to work If you see tit to appoint a special term of the Supreme Court for Nassau County to convene at once and have a grand jury impanelled with it 4 will present to that body all the evidence at the inniand of my oltice and with particular regard to violation of section 973 of the Penal Law and will welcome a deputy attorney general to be ap lolnlcd by you to assist me before the grand jury or o conduct the proceeding as you may elect
