HILLCREST MEETING OPENS AUSPICIOUSLY AUSPICIOUSLYToronto Toronto Out August 20 The summer meeting of the Toronto Driving Club oj eued at Hillcrest Park this afternoon under the most favorable con ¬ ditions The weather was Ideal tho track fast and the attendance close to 5000 Only three choices were successful while two rank outsiders scored in the second and fifth races Our Nugget at 12 to 1 provided an upset in the fifth and feature race a handicap by leading throughout While rounding the second IKJIK In this race Yaukeelotus stumbled and fell Jockey V Adams who had the mount suf fere a fractured collar bone During the running of the seventh race jockey D McCarthy was jammed into the fence and had a toe broken Neither will lie able to ride for some time timeCohort Cohort once a high class sprinter in the stable of H F Carman broke down hopelessly in the third
