BIG DEAL IN THOROUGHBREDS. .yf. B. Miller, of Akron, 0 Buys Half Interest in Uncle and Beaumont Farm Marcs, Lexington, Ky.. October S. Hal Price Headley. of this city, who last mouth at the dispersal sale of thoroughbred horses belonging to tlie estate of tho late Charles Koliler paid $::S,500 for the stallion Uncle, sire of tlie two-year-old champion. Old Rosebud, today sold one-half interest in that eight-year-old son of Star Shoot and The Niece and twenty broodmares at Beaumont Farm to W. 15. Sillier of Akron, O. Mr. Miller is well known and iiopular on the trotting turf and in horse show circles, but he is a newcomer to the ranks of thoroughbred breeders. He is exceedingly wealthy and made his money in the manufacture of rubber. He was president of the Diamond Rubber Co., which was merged with tlie Goodrich Company. The mares now jointly owned by Messrs. Headley and Miller are Xarco, Planutes, Ollie Belle. Thoughtless, May Hempstead. Chum, Ave Marie. Genius, St. Ursula, Princess Orna, Undecided, Nigclia. Te-bera. Star Dreamer, Tart, Dorval. Proclaim. Jhansi McKenua, Dreamy Eves, Matterhorn and Katrine. All of these, with the exception of Planutes. Legend. Matterhorn and Katrine, were mated with Ballot this year. Planutes was mated with Waterboy and Legend and Matterhorn to Superman. Katrine was not bred. The horses are all to remain at Beaumont Farm. James I. Ross has sold the two-year-old brown colt Consider, by Orlando Sanctissima to Martin Towle of Boston. Amos Turney today bought from Thomas R. Gardner, of Timberland Stud, two yearling colts by Electioneer, one out of Little Em and the other out of Rose Crest, a sister to Little Em.
