PIMLICO MEETING FINANCIALLY SUCCESSFUL. The meeting just closed at Pimlico proved successful from a financial point of view. The public has taken kindlj" to the mutuels, and the play in the machines has been an improvement over that of the spring. On the closing daj of the meeting about 0,000 a race passed through the machines, and with seven races that makes a substantial total. There is piny enough for more machines. If the public would make Its bets early there would be no trouble with the present outfit, but bettors hang off until the last few minutes .and then there is such a congestion that ninny are shut off and cannot get their bets down.
