LEADING WINNERS IN IRISH RACING. Irush turfmen derive as much enjoyment from their racing as any people under the sun, but it is racing there for much good sportsmanship and scanty monetary returns. The Irish flat racing season of 1013 is over, with Jamejs Daly the leading winning owner, four horses having won seven laces for him of the combined value of S1S.31C.50. Three capital two-year-olds. Mellifont, Itigh Mor and Hornets Treasure, won well for him. Hornets Treasure is sister to the famous Hornets Beauty and of exceptional promise. Second in the list is J. J. Parkinson, with fifteen winning horses and twenty races won that brought him a return of 4,205. Twenty-four owners won ,500 or more, and for once Richard Crokers name does not appear in the list. Of the trainers, Michael Dawson was the most successful, he sending 37 winners of 5S races and a fraction over 3,035 to the post. He has lieen lirst seven times in the last eight years. J. Pat man, with 31 winning mounts in 150 races leads the Irish jockeys, Joseph Canty with 31 in 105 coming second to him. Of the amateur riders L. Brahazon guided 30 winners out of 142 mounts, but R. H. Walker rode 20 winners out of 75 mounts, and scored the unusual percentage of 31.00 . The values of a number of the leading Irish races have leen materially . increased for 1014 and succeeding years, giving assurance of better earnings for successful owners in the future.
