UNDERCOVER took the lead at once and drew away in the first half, but was tiring at the end and driving hard to outstay GOLDEN PRIME. The latter was crowded back at the start, but saved ground all the way and, after having closed a big gap. finished with a rush. BUZZ AROUND ran well, but tired uuder punishment in the stretch drive. ZODIAC was saved behind the leaders to the stretch turn, where he moved up fast and outstayed i the tiring BEN QUINCE after being- bumped at the sixteenth post. BEN QUINCE was a forward con- f tender from the start and raced into the lead In the stretch, hut was bearing over to the Inside in the last sixteenth and probably would have won had his rider delayed making his move longer. SALON raced well, but tireil in the final drive. NORTHERNER was messed about for the entire race and should have won. VALKYRIE set the early pace fast aud finished close up. JOE KNIGHT, running in improved form, was a forward contender all the way and easily disposed of DEDUCTION In the last quarter. The latter showed sudden Improvement and set a fast early pace, but tired in the last quarter. SPELLBOUND finished fast and close up. MISS BRUSH ran well. WATER WELLES ran a good race, but was tiring fast at the end and just lasted long enough to outstay GENESTA. The latter responded resolutely to punishment and made a fast finish. EL ORO was a distant trailer to the stretch turn, then finished with a belated rush when too late to be of service. LAIGLON ran well enough to win presently. Ovcrwelghts-t Roiling Stone, 2 pounds. LITTLE ENGLAND was sent Into the lead prematurely and tired after disposing of REY. WHITE HEAT ran well, but tired and just lasted long enough to outstay BATTERY. REY quit badly after going live-eighths in the lead and ca.11 do much better. BATTERY closed a gap and finished fast. SCHALLER showed improvement.
