COUSIN PUSS BEATS MIMORIOSO. El Paso, Tex.. December 5. A high wind swept the Juarez track, tuis morning, but by post time it had died out and the sun shone brightly. .A large crowd came out. Cousin Puss was returned winner of the mile handicap that featured the card. MImorioso was installed favorite, -while the -winner was held at 4 to 1 in the betting. MImorioso dashed to the front after they had reached the half-mile ground. Irish Gentleman moved up to him in the stretch and disposed of him, then Cousin Puss came along to -win going away; The horse Jonathan, which contracted pneumonia en route here, died today. W. II. Dupee, millionaire turfman of San Diego, Cal., who recently purchased a band of yearlings from Comstock and Lawrence, has applied for stall room. Samuel Beckman has shipped eleven horses here from his ranch at Arlington, Tex. The horses of James Johnston and Gene Whalen are expected to arrive from Jamestown tomorrow. Wise Mason was bid up from 00 to 03 by C. Sanford and was retained by A. W. Levene. Trainer C. W. Carroll will probably not bring A. B. Spreckels horses here from California until after the holidays. This big band of youngsters is now in training at Napa Stock Farm and Carroll thinks the work they are getting is sufficient to lit them, with a few finishing touches, for early racing next year. They were all broken last September. It is predicted that Jefferson Livingstons Iron Mask will make some new American records over the Juarez track this winter if it continues in its present fast condition. Mamiic V.. a yearling in the stable of I. E. Clark, worked three-eighths in 35 at Juarez recently, going tlie first eighth in 11 and the quarter in 22. Three of Frank Weirs yearlings worked a quarter in 23. One is a King Hanover colt and the- others were fillies, one being a half sister to Busy and the other a half sister to the Latonia Derby winner, Joe Morris.
