AFTER A RACING CHARTER. Tlie latest issue of The Ontario Gazette contains the announcement of notice of application to Parliament for an act for the incorporation of the following gentlemen, all of Haileybury, in the district of Timiskaming as the Haileybury Turf Association; C. C. Farr, Joseph Raycroft, Otto Knapp, N. R. Green and Crawford McClcary. They desire the right to hold race meetings and conduct such business as 1 that involves, in Haileybury, or within a mile thereof. The right is also sought to sell information and privileges, and to permit bookinaking. poolselling and wagering on the race course of tin; association, such as is usually grunted to such associations. The Gazette has nothing referring to the proposed incorporation of the Queen City Driving and Jockey Club. It is only by special act that clubs may be established witli such privileges as Haileybury seeks. An application from this city would undoubtedly be opjMised on the ground that Toronto is already sufficiently served in that line, having two clubs that hold harness meetings, one that holds both running and trotting, two that provide for runners " exclusively, and still another Thorn-cliffe whose operations have not yet begun.
