NOTES OF THE TURF. S C. Hildreths Pataud, a four-year-old by Darlev Dale La Poetica. is on the way to this country from France and will be trained for racing hero the coining season. Sprin" racing will take place at Madrid, in Spain, under the patronage of King Alphonso XIII. on May 3, 10, 17, 21 and .".1. and June 7, 14 and 21. Hie horses of Weber and Ward. W. H. Baker and M C. Moore will shortly be shipped from Charleston to Kentucky to be prepared for the racing that is to begin iu the latter state at Lexington next mouth. Fred Cook, who recenly joined the ranks of the layers at Palmetto Park, Charleston, is reported to be operating profitably. W. R. Engstrom, W. G. Yanke, John Lewis and Henry Hanf, who are among the biggest of the operators there, are all said to have booked at a loss.
