WOULD EXEMPT HALF MILE TRACKS. Annapolis. Md., March 14. Senator Benson has introduced a bill exempting the half-mile tracks in Baltimore County from the provisions of the Act of 1912. creating the Baltimore County Racing Commission. Under the powers conferred upon It, the Raltimore Countv Racing Commission some time ago provided that all betting on races in Raltimore County must be done under the pari-mutuel system. Recanse of the expense attached, the county fairs found it impossible to conduct races except at a financial loss. The Renson bill gives the managers of the half-mile tracks the right to adopt any form of wagering on races that is fair, honest and lawful under tho general laws of the state. It provides, however, that no races shall be conducted on such tracks for more than five consecutive days, nor for more than ten days during any one year, and that a period of at least thirty days shall separate each five-day meeting. If also prohibits racing during the months of December, January, February and March of each year.
