MORE MONEY FOR HORSEMEN AT WOODBINE. Ontario Jockey Club Announces Substantial Increases in Stakes for Coming Spring Meeting. Toronto. Out., March 14. The program for the Ontario Jockey Clubs spring meeting at Woodbine is of extreme interest to horsemen, since it includes new stakes and more money even where the offerings have always been on a generous scale. As usual, tlie Toronto Cup, ,000 added, iieads the list. Next in order is the Conuaught Cup. a challenge cup presented by their royal highnesses, tlie Duke and Duchess of Conuaught, with ,000 added by the club, for horses owned in Canada. The Woodstock Place, witli ,000 added, is for three-year-olds. Roth of these races have been increased by ,000 over the amount added last year. Another increase is in the Minto Stakes. ,500 added, an advance of 00. The Victoria Stakes and Coronation Stakes, the latter for horses foaled in Canada, each have ,500 added and each has been increased by 00. A new stake, t ho Juvenile, for two-year-olds, is given wih ,500 added. The full list is: For Three-Year-Olds and Up. Toronto Cup, ,000. handicap, one mile and an eighth. Counaught Cup. ,000 added, handicap; a challenge cup presented by II. R. H. the Duke of Con-naught and II. R. II. the Duchess of Conuaught, for horses the bona fide property of Canadian owners resident in Cauada; one mile and a sixteenth. King Edward Hotel Gold Cup. ,300, handicap, one mile and a quarter. Ctfinto Stakes, selling, ,500 added, one mile and a sixteenth. William Uendrie Memorial Handicap. ,500 added, for horses foaled in Canada. For Three-Yeaj-Olds, Woodstock Plate, ,000 added, penalties and allowances; one mile and an eighth. For Two-Year-Olds. Victoria Stakes. ,500 added, penalties and allowances; five-eighths mile. Juvenile Stakes, ,500 added, penalties and allowances; four and a half furlongs. Coronation Stakes. ,300 added, for horses foaled in Canada; four and a half furlongs. Steeplechases. Woodbine Steeplechase. ,300 added, for four-year-olds and tqiward, penalties and allowances: about two miles. Street Railway Steeplechase Handicap. ,500 added, for four-year-olds and upward; about two and a half miles. In addition to the foregoing list of stakes on the Hat there will be overnight handicaps of the value of ,000, and 00, with the lowest value of any overnight race 1914.sh00. A steeplechase will be run on each day of the meeting, ,000 being given for the cross-country events,- the lowest value of any overnight steeplechase being ,000. Entrance money in all cases will go to the winner, and seven races will be the daily card. Entries for the stakes will close with Secretary W. P. Fraser April 27.
