STAKE RACES 0V FORT ERIE MEETINGS. To Chant for entries .tt midnight of Monday. Mav 4. the Niagara Racing Association otters its usual li-t of stake races to be run at its two Fort Erie meeting-. For its first meeting, set for July 4 to July 11. inclusive, four stake races are provided, with the Canadian Darby of *809, for three-year-olds at a mile and a quarter, as the principal feature. Tl tli.r three are the Fourth of July Han dicap for three-year-olds and Over at a mile and seventy yards: Fort Brie Selling Stakes, far three year. .ids and over at three quarters of a mile, and the Niagara Slakes for two year olds at five eighths of a mik. The second meeting covers the dates of August 5 to 12 inclusive, and has allotted to it three stake races, of which the big event is the .*5.tKi0 Dominion Handicap for three-year olds and over at ■ mile and n .piarter. The Caaadtaa Sports man Handicap for three year olds and over at a 11. He and a sixteenth, and the Iroqnola Hotel Haiuli ran far twa-year-oida at five and a half furlongs, each of the guaranteed value of ,500, are the other two. It is to lie hoped that by the time another racing year arrives, the officials of the Niagara Racing Association will have found their way clear to the abandonment of the antiquated guaranteed values system. In the meantime the events now Offered for entries are of sufficient value to prove quite attractive to owners and should he liberally patroaiaed. There has been much high-class racing at Fort Krie in the past and there will be more this year.
