WINDSOR STAKES HEAVILY FILLED. Detroit. Mich.. May 10. Only eight less than live . hundred entries have been made- for the Windsor Jockey Clubs stakes to be run during the two sum mer meetings. July 15-22 and August 15-22. There are ten of these fixtures this year, so that the nominations average forty-nine to the race. This is considerably in excess of last years showing, which represented a new record for the Windsor . association. Luke McLuke. Froglegs. Hodge. Hor-roii. Klebiirne. Waterbass. Cabaiet, Nightstick and Barnegat. Harry Payne Whitney, well-known New York sportsman. nominated Cabaret. Nightstick and I Miraniichi. 11. C. Hallenbeck. another well-known 1 New Yorker, named his three stars, Adams Express. . Frederick L. and Impression. The Frontier Handicap is worth ,608 this year, an increase of $."" x » over its value of last season. The dis lance remains the same one mile and an eighth. The biggest number of entries to any stake was , received for the 1. and C. a selling affair at one mile for three year olds and upward. Sixty three nominations were received for this, the third renewal of this Windsor fixture. Many of the Frontier candidates have been named for the D. and C and in addition, such well known horses as Prime Ahmed. Harry Lauder. Ride Brigade. Carlton C. Osaplc. Spring Maid. The Rump. Brookfield, Imprint, Penalty, Jenny Geddes, I-Tdda, David Craig. Cliff Edge, Blackford. Working Lad. Blue Thistle ai I Az lade. for the new take, the Jeorge Hendrie Memorial I Handicap, for all ages, one mile, fifty-three entries 1 have been received. In addition to the .IMI0 guar satee to the winner of this fixture, a challenge CUP . nresented in memory by his nephew, Lit.at.-Ool, William Hendrie. -lies lo the owner of the successful horse. Tin- two-year-old stakes tilled well, particularly the Ldeawold and the Essex Handicap, there being ! fifty four named for the former and fifty two for tie latter. For the Canadian Handicap, one mile, for that oughbreds foaled in the Dominion, there are twentv one entries, which is about the same number as 1 were nominated last year for this fixture.
