The special train of horses scheduled to leave Latonia for Juarez next Monday will break all records, and many horses that have raced brilliantly on the Kentucky circuit tracks this season will be seen under colors at the Mexican course the coming winter. This train will bo run through to El Paso. Texas, in fast time, being due to reach El Pajo on the afternoon of Thursday, November 12. Arrangements have been made to transfer the horses directly over the Bio Grande immediately upoi the arrival of the train in 131 Paso and they will be unloaded at Juarez the same day. Capt. J. B. Viley has what lie regards as the greatest weanling he has ever raised at his Stonewall Farm iu Woodford County, Kentucky. The youngster is a bay colt with a big star in his forehead and is by Peter Quince Lucasta, by Hawkstone. Lucasta was a winner in England and has already produced eleven winners, including that good iilly. Lux Casta. Desha Breckeuridge, Lexington editor and turfman, owns a yearling sister to this colt. She will be trained for" him next season in the stable of T. C. McDowell. Capt. Viley mated Lucasta again last spring to Peter Quince and believes she is once more in foal. Henry McDaniel regrets exceedingly that he was not able to attend the yearling sale at Latonia last week. This was because several of the Davies horses lie has in charge at Torouto were stricken with a mild attack of distempter. He expects to keep the big Davies string at the Woodbine track tor three weeks longer and then ship them to the farm for the winter. He reiorts that I several of the yearlings in his string have workel j well, a Canadian-bred youngster being fastest of the lot. He worked the brother to the Latonia Derby winner. John Gund, a quarter iu 23. Trainer J. O. Keene is anxious to persuade Senator J. N. Camden to allow him to take the speedy three-year-old gelding, Briughurst, to Juarez to race several times during the coming winter. Keene deserves credit for his -methods in training this black gelding this season. He got Senator Cainden to let him throw Briughurst out of training for such races, as the Kentucky Derby last spring, with the idea of getting him ready for an autumn campaign. The sou of Plaudit did not do well iu his preparation early last spring and trainer Keene well knew tliat; if he fitted him for a race like the Kentucky Derby he probably would knock him ojtt for the whole season. That he was right iir his estimation .pf the geldings qualifications as an autumn winner is demonstrated by the son of Plaudits record on the Ken-1 tucky tracks this .all, he being as yet unbeaten since he cnroebackihto the races. Good judges among horsemen think that Uringhurst, if taken to Juarez the coming winter, is the one horse In training that may prove able on that tract to beat Iron Masks remarkable records of live and a half furlongs iu 1:03 and six furlongs in 1:09, made there last reason. C. F. Buschemeyer of Louisville, has, upon the advice of Dr. Bryan of Lexington, decided to turn Hawthorn out for the winter, probably at the Coi. Jim Douglas farm in Jefferson county.
