FLITTERGOLDTAEESAPURSE BROTHER TO FAIR PLAY WINS FEATURE RACE AT PIMLICO. J. S. Tyree, of Washington, Shows Up a Promising Two-Ycar-Old, Herbert Temple, in Race for Juvenile Maidens. , Baltimore, . Md.. November 3. Election day was marked by a big crowd at Pimlico, and with the attractive card offered, the sport was all that could be desired. The Towson Steeplechase and tbe Stafford Purse, a six-furlong dash, were the special features. August Belmont won tbe latter with Flittergold, a brother to Fair Play. Seven went to the post, with the Montpelier Stables Pomette Bleu a strong choice. Ten Point, looking better than he has in recent races, went to the front at tbe start and showed the way to the turn, with Flittergold at his saddle girths. Swinging for home Ten Point gave it up ami Water Lady took his place. Butwell saved ground on tbe turn and drew into a lead of a length. Pomette Bleu came with a rush in a game effort, but Flittergold, with his advantage at the start, got home in front. J. S. Tyree uncovered a promising colt in the fifth in Herbert Temple, by Hastings Josie L.. and consequently a half brother to Horron. Tho tip was abroad on Herbert Temple and he was a big . favorite. Shuttiuger let him get into his stride before going after Thrill, the early pacemaker, and at the turn the Tyree colt was on even terms with the Ally. He was green and inclined to swerve, but Shuttinger kept him straight enough to win. The colt will doubtless show a better performance next time. lie is said to have outworked Protector, the best colt in the Tyree barn. Tbe condition books for the first week of the Palmetto Parlf meeting at Charleston arrived today and were distributed among tbe horsemen. From present indications the coining meeting will excel any ever given at Charleston. The fact that tin; association has announced that the ring will be an open one, will help the meeting greatly. Brush was ridden by M. Daly, a son of Mike Daly. It was the first mount that the lad ever had "through the field. One of the assistant starters whips became entangled in Joe Finns tail and he dragged it behind him .throughout the fourth race. This undoubtedly .retarded the, horse. . Jockeys Clement Grand and D. Hollv were! each suspended by the starter for four days. Trainer. Wins. Trainer. Wins. Benson, R. C 15 Karrick, W. II 5 Bratton. P. 2 Kelley, M. C 1 Bray. F. M 1 Kraft, F 3 Brooks, W 3 Leary, D.
