CAPTAIN PARR raced close un behind tlie leader fo the eighth post, then finished fast and got up to win in the mial strides. EGMONT set the puce and moved into a long lead while rounding tlie far turn, but tired badly in tlie last eighth. TIE PIN ran well, but tired and just lasted long enough to outstay RACV. The latter dropped back on the backstretch, hut was taken to the outside when entering the homestretch and, finishing with a rush almost got up to win. CENTAURI was a forward eon-tender in- closest pursuit all tlie way and outgamed DANGEROUS MARCH in the final drive. The latter was hard ridden from tlie far turn to the finish. JOE FINN quit after opening a big gap while rounding the first turn and setting the pace to the homestretch. AFTERGLOW ran well for three-quarters. The winner was entered for 00; no bid.
