WINNING STALLIONS OF THE WORLD IN 1913. In presenting once more a classification of the leading stallions in all parts of the world, it may be mentioned that on this occasion the International list has been lengthened by the inclusion of two additional countries, viz., Brazil and Uruguay. For the third year in succession the chanrpion sire in this country fails to secure the premier position in the universal list, which Is, for the third successive time, topped by a sire in Argentina. In becoming "worlds champion" for 1913. Cyllen;; must hold a unique record, having regard to the fact that he was the leading stallion in 1909 and 1910 in England. Beyond this outstanding feature it is not necessary to do more than call attention to the remarkable manner iu which St. Simon dominated the sires list in almost every country in the world. In five countries out of the fourteen, a son of St. Simon is at the top of the list; iu one other a grandson fills the same place, and the leaders in two countries are out of daughters of St. Simon. Moreover. Flying Fox and his son, Gouvernant. carried the blood of St. Simons sister. Angelica. As regards the largest number of actual winners and races won. the Australasian stallions are almost unapproachable. Their nearest attendant is Star Shoot, whose offspring have done reinarkablv well in the United States, where Bvoomstlek.s position as chief sire of the year was entirely due to the earnings of AAhisk Broom and Nightstick, which returned from England to the land of their birth. The list follows: Cylleiie, by Bona Alsta Argentina 00,005 Desmond, by St. Simon England 154,St53 Flying Fox, by Orme France 140.830 Ayr Laddie, by Ayrshire Australia 130,700 Ard Patrick, by St. Florian Germany .... 123.SS5 Signorino, by Best Man Italy 110,515 Soult. by St. Simon New Zealand 103.425 Talion. by Fripon Belgium 78,550 Broomstick, by Ben Brush United States . 70,010 Gouvernant, by Flying Fox LVustrin-IIun- Rary 73.S05 Darley Dale, by St. Simon Russia 72.500 Diamond Jubilee, by St. Simon Uruguay... 38,780 Greatorex. by Carbine South Africa 32,075 Pericles, by St. Simon Brazil 19.420 Bloodstock Breeders Review.
