High-Class Field in Sight for Tomorrows Renewal of Juarez Handicap, Chief Feature of Opening-Day Program Gossip from Mexican Course. El Paso, Tex., November 24. The meeting which opens here Thursday will inaugurate the sixth winter season of racing at the Juarez track. Like the five preceding meetings, it will run for 100 or more racing days. The feature race of the opening day , is the Juarez Handicap, value ,500, six furlongs, in which a great field of sprinters will go to the post, headed by the speedy Texas-bred sprinter, Pan Zareta. This brother to Bourbon Beau is coming here from J. AA Fullers ranch in Texas, where his owner sent him last spring to rest and for mating with a few mares. After this winter It is probable he will be retired for good to the stud. B. A. Jones, of Parnell, Mo., has three superb looking vearllngs in training at Juarez. One is a chestnut filly by Harrigan Princess Tulane. by His timuness: another is a chestnut gelding by Harrigan Miss Aan AAinkle, by St. Felix, and the other is a chestnut colt by Blues Royal Lady, by Royal Flush III. The filly and gelding are the first of the get of Harrigan to be trained for racing and the only representatives he will have on the turf next season as two-year-olds. They are fine individuals -ttnd before being shipped here- were highly tried on the farm track in Missouri. The filly has been named Julia L., for the mother of owner Jones, while the gelding has not been named. The Blues colt will be raced In the name of Heir Apparent. Julia L. is a half-sister to the good two-year-old winner of this season. Trulanc. Mr. Jones has eighteen weanlings on the farm at Parnell, Mo. Of the coming two-year-olds 51r. Jones owns Julia L., weighs 950 pounds arid Heir Apparent 1,025 pounds. There were twenty-eight mares mated to four horses at the Jones breeding farm this season, The sires patronized were Seth, Blues, Harrigan and AValdo. As the latter was in training most of the season, only three mares were mated to him in 1914. The old-fashioned slates will be up in the betting ring at Juarez. J. T. Ireland is among the recent arrivals. He is to be connected with the meeting as steward. The Reach in Jefferson Livingstons string is dead of lung fever, being the fourth horse that has died since shipping here. There are no more sick horses at the course. Secretary Jasper has announced the entries for the stakes that are to be run dnriug the meeting. The stakes tilled wonderfully well from the standpoint of quality and it is evident therefrom that the meeting is to be attended by the best racing in the history of the tfoekey Club Juarez.
