WEATHER FINE, TEACK BAD . i; RACING IS FORMFUL AT JUAREZ IN SPITE OF DEEP CONDITION OF COURSE, Knight of Pythias Wins Two-Ycar-Old Raco for W. , G. Yanke Favorites Account For Half the Card. El Paso, Tex., December 20. Beautiful weather prevailed here today, but the Juarez track was in exceedingly bad condition as a result Of the long continued drenching it received earlier in the week. In spite of tlie adverse conditions, the racing was fairly formful. Favorites accounted for the two opening dashes. Mane Coghill was an easy winner In the lirst race and California Jack, the pacemaker, easily beat the others. Zinkand, whose liking for soft going has been shown on mapy occasions, made a show of his opposition in the second race. Faneuil Hall beat the well-backed Dave Montgomery for second place. elie Forty, against which extremely liberal odd--were laid, was never headed in the third. Russ Sand liad little difliculty in beating Al Wormwood, which supplanted Elsie Green iu favoritism, for second money. The fourth was marked by victory for Andrew O Day, which went to the post equal favorite with Rockdale. The latter failed to figure prominently at any time and was unplaced at the finish, second money going to Frazzle and third to Luke Van Zaudt. It was figured that Category and Knight of Pythias would have the fifth to themselves and so it proved, but calculations were upset when the Yanke youngster beat Category after the latter had established a considerable lead in the middle running. Sam Beckham easily beat the rest. Mrs. Me, making her first start of the meeting, was installed favorite for the closing dash, but was not ready to go the route under the trying conditions that prevailed and quit utterly after showing the way In the early racing. Silver Tone turned up the winner, a head in advance of Oblivion. Jack Curley, the pugilistic promoter, who Is trviug to arrange to have the .Tohnson-AVillard match take place at Juarez, is a daily visitor to the course. The stewards suspended jockev OBrien for five days. for rough riding in the third race. - - -. .
